Natural and organic sector unite at hugely successful independent show

Independent retailers from across the country came together recently for the second Natural Health Trade Summit.

The event, held at The Palace Hotel, in Manchester, saw an increase in both retailers and suppliers following the inaugural event in 2015, with 370 retail buyers turning out for the one-day event, a 20 per cent increase in attendance year-on-year. There was also 30 per cent more exhibitors.

The summit is organised by Target Publishing, which publishes Organic & Natural Business magazine, in association with the National Association of Health Stores (NAHS). Target donates a portion of the profits to the organisation.

Sponsored by Nature’s Aid, Bee Health, FSC, Tree of Life and Optima,  visitors and suppliers were treated to a free healthy lunch and snacks throughout the day, in addition to a free welcome drinks reception the night before, sponsored by The Health Store.

In addition to the exhibition space, a number of hugely well-received roundtable sessions were held, including one presented by the Soil Association around how to promote organic in independent stores.

The event also hosted the NHT Summit Product Awards, in which retailers voted for their favourite product across a variety of categories.

The winners included Eco For Life 100% Plant Made Bottled Waters Travel Provisions in the Best Food category, Best Healthcare going to Thursday Plantation Pure Tea Tree Oil and Best Beauty being awarded to Avalon Organics Intense Defense with Vitamin C Antioxidant Oil.

Next year’s show has already been confirmed as taking place on October 22 at the same venue. To register your interest, log onto
